Kidz

This ministry is formally  the TAPESTRY Christian Storytelling Alliance, TAPESTRY is the short version and also refers to the adult cast. TAPESTRY Kidz is open to children, ages 8 through Jr. High School with a few 6-year-olds by special invitation. TAPESTRY Kidz is represented on the TAPESTRY Board by Francine Long and children selected from their own peer groups. For information about Kidz uniforms, contact Faith Crumbly, ustorytellers@gmail.com, or Traci Holiwell, at Traci.Jackson@hotmail.com.

KIDZ ROLES

The Kidz are a new group that is learning to perform as a team. Their first assignment is dramatizing THE BIBLE, by Stephen James. The routine includes a bit of singing, pacing, a lot of vocal variety, voice choir, and movement—skills they will use again and again. This routine will be given as a prelude to every TAPESTRY drama to emphasize that TAPESTRY ‘s vision is to bring the Bible alive, to highlight the many facets, facts, and principles recorded in the Bible. To ensure that the Kidz understand all that is the poem, they will be going through a worksheet in teams to match the poetry wording with Bible content. So bring the worksheet, a pencil, and a Bible to rehearsals.

The Kidz repertoire includes monologue, dialogue, mime and the use of individual music skills. They will sometimes be asked to give short public presentations, e.g., prayer and announcements or serve as narrator or master/mistress of ceremonies. Kidz members can earn the Christian Drama Pathfinder patch. TAPESTRY is a year-round ministry and not one that convenes solely to give holiday presentations. Casting for the March 24 program to be held at Atlanta Boulevard is closed as of February 3; however, casting is underway for spring and summer programs. Biblical roles require that the Kidz have biblical costumes. Parents should  call the TAPESTRY director to discuss costumes: 301-573-5311.
